What are some ways to style unpredictable wavy hair?

It layered and a little lower then ear length. and I kind of have to get lucky for it to look good. It sometimes might be all Fabio and laying flay with perfect waves on both sides, then some days it light just to out to the side of my head like handlebars. And my bands are shorter in front so they tend to lay flat,or just slightly curl at the end. Its soooo ridiculous!
